Selected to appear in Philadelphia Sculptors 2020 show “Subversion,” this piece juxtaposes classical female maidens with items from industry. The title refers to a New Deal program encouraging women to take part in a civilian army workforce. A discarded weaving machine forms the base of the sculpture. The women who were maidens in their original form are now dominant figures depicted taking action.
