cernunnos

Hunting and death are central themes, from the skeletal bones that frame the piece, to the mounted stag and dead goose which are both presented as trophies. While the title refers to a horned god of Celtic mythology, horns are conspicuously absent from the mounted stag, also adorned with goggles, turning a symbol of virility and victory into impotent and blind. Many of the figures in this piece are likewise altered, from a blindfolded general to militarized female nudes.
