A congregation of people and animals in an open-air market. The positioning of the griffin’s paws were inspired by the artists dog. The scales the griffin holds in his mouth are used to weigh goods at a market, while at the same time signify the scales of justice. The angel and devil reinforce the theme of reckoning.
